New Show, The Puccini Scandal

"The Puccini Scandal" is a new dramatization of one of opera's most loved composers, Giacomo Puccini.  Set in 1924, at his villa in Torre del Lago, Italy, the composer is struggling to finish his opera "Turandot". Puccini, played by Niall Morris, brings us with him on a journey through his life, interspersed with excerpts from his most loved operas such as "La Bohème", "Madama Butterfly", "Tosca", "Gianni Schicchi", "La Rondine", "Turandot" and others.
One event in particular hangs heavily over the Maestro: a tragedy that in 1909 nearly destroyed the Puccini household. In many ways, the death of the maid Doria shaped the remainder of the composer's career.  Niall Morris, whose hit show about opera legend Maria Callas has sold over 15,000 tickets, wrote "The Puccini Scandal" after extensive research during a visit to Torre del Lago. Leading British tenor James Edwards returns to perform some of the greatest arias every written for tenor voice, including "Che Gelida Manina" & "Nessun Dorma". Sensational Irish soprano Mairead Buicke sings such classics as "Un Bel Di Vedremo" & "Vissi d'Arte" and the brilliant baritone Simon Morgan sings the music of "Il Tabarro" & Scarpia in "Tosca".

Set in Puccini's music room at his villa, accompanied by concert pianist Anthony Byrne and featuring violin soloist Denice Doyle, "The Puccini Scandal" offers an entertaining and moving insight into the life of one of the world's most loved composers.
