English tenor Alexander James Edwards is starring in Festival Opera's production of Puccini's La Boheme this month. He reveals how his family circumstances have impacted on his operatic career, and mean he can identify with some of the teenagers joining the chorus for this Napier season of the classic opera.

Loved the world over, Puccini’s La Bohème portrays both the sweet early flutter of love and the miserable pain of losing that love. Puccini’s music is some of the most beautiful ever written and as long as we all live and die in each other’s arms, Puccini’s La Bohème will be celebrated as one of the best love stories ever told.
